Full Website Redesign for Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project
Mission:
To modernize HCUP’s digital presence through a user-centered redesign that improves accessibility, clarity, and trust. Our goal was to transform a dated interface into a streamlined, intuitive experience that better serves researchers, policymakers, and healthcare professionals by making complex data more approachable and easy to navigate.
Key contributions:
I led the UI design effort, defining the overall aesthetic and crafting the full visual system, while collaborating closely with a cross-functional team.
- Led moodboarding and visual exploration sessions with the client
- Designed and documented a scalable UI system
- Created responsive high-fidelity mockups
- Collaborated on user interviews and UX strategy
- Supported wireframing and prototyping
Although the contract was terminated before launch, this concept represents a fully realized design direction.
Moodboarding & Visual Exploration: Led visual direction workshops with the client, guiding decisions on tone, color, typography, and layout. Facilitated alignment on product vision, surfaced key pain points, and translated ideas into clear, actionable design direction.
Wireframing: After defining project goals, wireframes were created in Figma to establish screen layouts and content hierarchy. This iterative process ensured alignment on structure and functionality before UI design.
UI System & High-Fidelity Mockups: Designed and documented a scalable UI system to ensure consistency across HCUP's complex, data-driven platform. Created mockups reflecting real user journeys and addressing key pain points. Samples shown represent only a portion of the extensive work for this large government website.
